Enable HDMI on DDI2 interface

  • Is it possible to enable HDMI on the DDI2 interface running under ubuntu?  The evaluation board uses a displayport to HDMI converter on the DDI1 video output, but the SMARC has a native HDMI interface on DDI2.  Can I use the HDMI interface as my video output in my application?

The IPI carrier board that comes with your kit has HDMI direct to the MXM connector, only 2 muxes are in between  see schematics > https://hq0epm0west0us0storage.blob.core.windows.net/%24web/public/SMARC/LEC-iMX8MP/documentation/77A07-0A20-A0-SCHPDF_20210310_1500%20.pdf

From the LEC-EL SMARC module DDI2 is going directly to the MXM connector.

So, what you have today is what you are looking for per my understanding.

What you probably see on the module is a eDP to LVDS bridge ( PTN3460i on DDI0) but this is not connected to the HDMI interface, it goes to the 2 LVDS headers next to the MXM connector

Let me know if this is not clear

  • @Master of SMARC

I found my issue, the "DP1_AUX_SEL" signal requires a pull-up resistor.

The SMARC design guide, V2.1.1 does not include this in their guide and the ADLink LEC-EL says this is an output from the module so I left it unconnected.  The I-PI SMARC Plus evaluation board schematic had the pull-up resistor connected to it.
